RIP Fr Robert Taft, SJ - Famous Jesuit Priest Archimandrite Dies at age 86 - Expert in #Byzantine #Liturgy

Robert Taft SJ, a Jesuit priest Archimandrite was a famous scholar of the Byzantine Liturgy for many years. He died on November 1, 2018 at the age of 86. He was living at the Jesuit Order’s home for retired priests in Weston, Massachusetts. Taft taught for many years at the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome as Professor of Oriental Liturgy. He wrote hundreds of scholarly works; with some more well known being the book The Liturgy of the Hours in East and West, and The Great Entrance. 

Father Taft was ordained to the priesthood in the Byzantine Slavonic Rite in 1963. He celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the church of the Pontifical Russian College, known as the Russicum.
