#BreakingNews Gold Monstrance Stolen from a Catholic Church in the Bronx, NY, that is worth $10,000



A Roman Catholic church in the Bronx, New York, USA suffered the theft of a precious religious item, called a monstrance. A monstrance, example pictured above, is used for prayer to Jesus in the Eucharist host. Normally, the host is placed in a monstrance while people pray. Police are looking for a man suspected of stealing a religious item worth $10,000 from St. Joseph Church. Police report that the suspect stole the solid gold religious vessel, called a monstrance, from Saint Barnabas Roman Catholic Church on East 241st Street. It happened around 7 a.m. on June 25, 2021. The man was inside the church for about an hour before he went to the lower level and took the monstrance, police said. Police released a picture of the man they are looking for.  Some parishioners mentioned that they are finding it in their hearts to forgive and to pray for the thief. Edited from CBS2

Was the Blessed Sacrament exposed on the altar in the monstrance? If so, $10,000 is of an infinitesimally small value!
