Pope Francis says "Who sings with an open heart, perhaps without realizing it already touches the mystery of God. ..Always listen to the melody of God in your life."

ADDRESS OF THE HOLY FATHER FRANCIS

TO PARTICIPANTS IN THE ECUMENICAL PILGRIMAGE FROM GERMANY
"BETTER ALL TOGETHER"

Paul VI Audience Hall - Monday, 25 October 2021

Dear Friends ,

with affection I greet all of you who have come to Rome as pilgrims under the motto "Better all together", "Besser alle zusammen". Some of you had already participated in the pilgrimage five years ago , entitled “With Luther from the Pope”, “Mit Luther zum Papst”; today, however, a good number of new faces have been added. I sincerely thank Mr. Landesbischof Kramer for his kind words.

At the beginning you greeted me with a community song. Singing unites. In the choir, no one stands alone: it is important to listen to others. I hope this readiness to listen for the Church. We are learning it again in the synodal process.

Dear friends, also listen to the melody of God in your life; the one that the Lord has composed within your life. Open not only your ears but also your hearts. Who sings with an open heart, perhaps without realizing it already touches the mystery of God. This mystery is love, the love that finds its splendid, full and singular sound in Jesus Christ.

Always listen to the melody of God in your life. Thus a song is formed from many voices. Even so is ecumenism, in Germany and in many other parts of the world.

The Lord bless you and protect you and your families. And please don't forget to pray for me. Thanks.
