In Columbia, Father Darío Echeverri, secretary general of the National Conciliation Commission (CCN), has denounced the continuing threats against the life of the Bishop of Buenaventura, Monsignor Rubén Darío Jaramillo Montoya. As well as, he points out that certain places in the territory of the Port where he cannot transit and that are part of his Jurisdiction have been vetoed.
“ We are greatly concerned about the life of Monsignor Rubén Darío Jaramillo, the Bishop of Buenaventura, he as a good shepherd and carrying in his heart the pain of his people has denounced what is happening there. How the armed men have been merciless in this region against this population and, as he has had the courage, the prophetic value to denounce what is happening there, now he is the victim , ”said the priest.
The religious makes an urgent call to the National Government to offer greater accompaniment and attention to the population, noting that this port has always suffered neglect due to the pain of the population.
Finally, he invites the armed men to stop their cruelty against the Afro-descendant, indigenous and settler populations that live there. He also calls for an end to the war and for peace to reign in this Pacific region.
