Major Archbishop Sviatoslav of the Catholic Church in Ukraine says "We are being Crucified"

The head of the UGCC on the 32nd day of the war: "A new world will emerge through Ukraine, where evil will be defeated"

Sunday, March 27, 2022, 12:18 p.m.

We see that a new life is being born in Ukraine. We see that the cross of the Lord, on which Christ, from his life-giving side, poured out blood and water to the world - the source of eternal life - pulsates among us today.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, said this in his daily military address on the 32nd day of the Russian war against Ukraine.

"A new world will emerge through Ukraine. A world where there will be no more evil. A world where evil will be defeated. A world where a person will feel worthy and human life will be respected, "the Primate added.

"Yesterday, the peaceful city of Lviv was subjected to a tragic attack. And every time a rocket hits a peaceful city, there is a feeling that this is another nail in the body of Ukraine. Ukraine is being crucified, "said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

According to the spiritual leader, Ukraine is experiencing its own Golgotha. A time of great pain. A time when the Ukrainian people are asking God and themselves: why? what is the meaning of human suffering? where do we get the strength to see the light of God's wisdom in the midst of the madness of war?

This Sunday, which according to the Julian calendar is the third Sunday of Lent, the Church of Christ raises the Holy and Life-giving Cross of the Lord before the eyes of God's reward. We call this Sunday Crucifixion Sunday.

“Looking at our Savior crucified on the cross, we find some answers to these questions. Today Christ is being crucified, once again together with Ukraine. And by uniting the suffering and anguish we are experiencing in Ukraine with the suffering of the crucified Christ, we find the key to understanding, ”said the Head of the Church.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav cordially thanked all those who, together with Ukraine, derive the meaning of a new life from the sufferings we are experiencing and show solidarity with us. He thanked the Mayor of London and all the people of North Albion for taking to the streets of their city yesterday, at the urging of our President, to show solidarity with Ukraine.

"I want to thank all those who, feeling the pain of Ukraine, know how to give birth to a new life where he lives, where he fights, where he builds his life. Let this be repeated in the capitals of countries around the world, "the Primate wished.
