#BreakingNews 2 Monks and a Nun Killed during Bombing of a Historic Monastery in Ukraine



The Ukrainian Orthodox Church reported that on May 30, 2022, as a result of the shelling of the city of Svyatogorsk, the Holy Dormition Svyatogorsk Lavra was destroyed, two monks of this monastery and a nun were killed, and three monks were wounded. This was reported by the Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church with reference to the press service of the Donetsk diocese.
They wrote:

"I am deeply saddened to announce that on May 30, during the fighting, the 3rd and 4th monastic corps of the Holy Dormition Lavra of Svyatogorsk were damaged. Archimandrite Galaktion, a monk of the Lavra, Aristoklius, a monk, and Barbara, a nun, were killed in the shelling. Hieromonks Joasaph and Amphilochius, as well as Hierodeacon Alypius, were wounded. The number of dead and injured lay people is currently unknown, "said Metropolitan Hilarion of Donetsk and Mariupol, Holy Archimandrite of the Holy Dormition Svyatogorsk Lavra.


Bishop Hilarion asked for holy prayers for the repose of the dead and for the speedy recovery of the wounded.
