Pope Francis Issues New Decree that Diocesan Bishops Need Vatican Permission for News Public Associations


A new decree of Pope Francis was issued by the Vatican. 
A rescript which requires diocesan bishops to receive permission from the Holy See before erecting "a public association of the faithful with a view to becoming an Institute of Consecrated Life or a Society of Apostolic Life of diocesan right." The written permission must come from the  Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life 

FULL TEXT: Rescript of the Holy Father Francis regarding public associations of faithful in itinere, 15.06.2022
The Holy Father Francis, in the audience granted on 7 February this year to the undersigned Cardinal Prefect and Archbishop Secretary of the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life has specifically approved the following provision:
"Before the diocesan bishop erects - by decree - a public association of the faithful with a view to becoming an Institute of Consecrated Life or a Society of Apostolic Life of diocesan right, he must obtain the written license of the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of apostolic life ".
The Holy Father also ordered that this Rescript be promulgated through publication in L’Osservatore Romano, entering into force immediately, and then published in the official commentary of the Acta Apostolicae Sedis.
