A wooden church in the Finnish village of Rautjärvi in ​​South Karelia was completely destroyed by fire. It was built in 1881. Rescue services received a report about the fire at half past nine in the morning. At that time, there were about 30 people in the church at the Christmas service. According to the priest, all parishioners were safely brought outside. Leena Haakana, pastor of the Ruokolahti parish, reports that the church may have been destroyed by arson.
Reports say someone from the outside tied the door with a rope. In the same way, those with the entrance for people with disabilities were blocked. However, the knot was loose and the exit was quickly opened,
