Pope Francis and Curia Continue in Solitary Spiritual Exercises and Prayer for the Lenten Season

Pope Francis is participating in the annual Lenten Spiritual Exercises for the Roman Curia.  At the start of Lent each year, Pope Francis and his advisors will spend several days in a series of spiritual exercises.  They began on Sunday afternoon and will continue until Friday, March 11, 2022.  For nearly five days they remain alone, meditating and listening to the reflections of a preacher. Considering the persistence of the epidemiological emergency from Covid-19, also this year it was not be possible to live in community the Spiritual Exercises of the Roman Curia at the Casa Divin Maestro in Ariccia. The Holy Father therefore invited the Cardinals residing in Rome, the Dicastery Heads and the Superiors of the Roman Curia to provide for it personally, retiring in prayer, from the afternoon of Sunday 6 to Friday 11 March.

All the commitments of the Holy Father will be suspended that week, including the General Audience of Wednesday 9 March. Press release of the Holy See Press Office , January 20, 2022
