FBI Arrests and Charges 9 Pro-Life Activists after They Retrieve Carton of 115 Aborted Babies from Clinic

On March 30, the FBI arrested and charged 9 pro-life activists under F.A.C.E (The Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act.) for an nonviolent direct action that occurred in 2020. If convicted, each of the defendants could face over 10 years in federal prison.

Aborted babies were found in a PAAU activist's home.  The activists say they received in a cardboard box, bodies of 115 aborted babies, outside a local abortion clinic from the driver for a medical waste company.

Here is an excerpt from the Press Conference:

Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising (PAAU) member Lauren Handy, was  arrested and indicted (along with eight others) for “obstructing patients and providers of a reproductive health services facility” in October 2020. The Department of Justice earlier this week to perform autopsies on the bodies of five aborted babies that PAAU has said they intercepted when the clinic was attempting to send the fetal remains to Curtis Bay Medical Waste Facility.

Prior to the arrest, one of the defendants privately arranged for the Metropolitan Washington D.C. Police homicide unit to pick up five recently discovered late-term aborted babies for forensic examination. Their late gestational ages as well as their apparent sustained injuries potentially show violations of the Partial Birth Abortion Act as well as the Born Alive Infants Protection Act which are federal crimes.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is in consultation with the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia on both matters.

Daily Wire notes that, Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) and Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ) sent a letter Friday to the Department of Justice and the FBI calling for an investigation into whether the abortions performed on the preterm babies violated the law.  D.C. police have not only said that the babies were aborted legally but also indicated that the potentially criminal part of the incident is how the aborted baby bodies were obtained. The nation’s capital does not have any specific law that bans abortion at any point.
