Bishop in Nicaragua Invites Faithful to Crusade of Prayer for the Church to End Persecution

The Bishop of Matagalpa invites a "Crusade of prayer for our Church, our priests, our beloved Nicaragua" Tuesday, 19 July 2022
Agenzia Fides reports - "On behalf of all my brother priests of our blessed and beloved diocese of Matagalpa, I want to invite each of you to a crusade of prayer and adoration for our Church, our priests and our beloved Nicaragua". This was requested by the bishop of Matagalpa, Monsignor Rolando José Álvarez Lagos, during the mass celebrated on Sunday, July 17, in the diocesan Sanctuary of the Divine Child Jesus, in Fuente Pura, after the 12-kilometre pilgrimage from the Cathedral, which was attended by a multitude of faithful in prayer. According to the news released by the diocese, sent to Fides, referring to the Gospel passage proclaimed, the Bishop underlined the fundamental message: "in the midst of the anxieties and concerns that all Nicaraguans have, we have chosen the best part, because we always turn our gaze and our hearts to the Lord Jesus and his mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary".
Monsignor Álvarez Lagos explained how to live the crusade of prayer and adoration: every first Friday of the month, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, must be dedicated by fasting during the day; On the feast of Our Lady, at 5:30 in the morning, each one in his home, in his family, and if so, in our parishes, the Rosary of the Dawn and the prayer of the thousand Hail Marys will be recited. The Bishop also indicated the following Marian feasts: August 15, Assumption of Our Lady into heaven, August 22, Santa Maria Regina, September 8, the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, September 15, feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, September 24, feast of Our Lady of Mercy, October 7, Our Lady of the Rosary, November 27, Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, and December 8, Immaculate Conception of Mary. "In all these festivities - he continued -, let us unite at 5.30 in the morning, all, in a single thought, in a single feeling and in a single heart, praying the Rosary of Dawn, and we will see thousands of blessings and we will also see the glory of God, because prayer is what will save Nicaragua". Monsignor Álvarez Lagos urged the faithful present, and all those who followed the celebration through the media of the Church and digital platforms "not to have the slightest doubt and, quite the contrary, let us have a certainty of faith that always after darkness comes dawn, and that always after walking through the desert, always arrives at the promised land; and after the crucifixion and death, always, infallibly, comes the resurrection".
Even the Metropolitan Archbishop of Managua, Cardinal Leopoldo José Brenes, has also urged this Sunday to start a Holy Rosary Prayer Campaign: "Let us pray the Holy Rosary asking for peace in the world, for peace in our homeland, for harmony , for friendship, for peace in our family and peace in our hearts. May our Mother be the Blessed Virgin Mary, the one who accompanies us, so that, like her we can listen to her son Jesus, and after having listened to him, let us go forward in our works".
