Statement from the Mission: Yesterday, 6 September 2022, at 21:00, the mission of Chipene, Lurio, Diocese of Nacala, in Mozambique was attacked by terrorists. They entered the house of the Comboni Missionary Sisters, killed a Sister, Sr. Maria De Coppi, an Italian, destroyed and set fire to the church, the house of the Sisters, the hospital and the mission machines.
The other two Sisters of the community, Sr. Eleonora Reboldi, Italian and Sr. Angeles Lopez Hernandez, Spanish, managed to escape and hide in the forest, together with a group of young girls.
