#BreakingNews LA Sheriff Reveals New Details on Suspect in Murder of Catholic Bishop David O’Connell in California - VIDEO



On February 20th, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department held a news conference to provide more details about the murder of Bishop David O’Connell. The bishop was shot and killed in his home in Los Angeles, California, on February 18th. The suspect, identified as Carlos Medina, age 65, had entered the house without force.

He is the husband of O’Connell’s housekeeper and had previously done work at the house, police said. Monday, Feb. 20, in the morning, deputies arrested Medina at a home near Torrance, in unincorporated territory. He had barricaded there overnight.  Authorities explained that after he did not show up for Mass the deacon went to the home and discovered the bishop’s body then called 911. Bishop O’Connell, age 69, was found deceased in his bed with one gunshot wound to his upper torso. Archbishop José Gomez, visibly shaken at the death of the peacemaker bishop, spoke of the great loss to the community. WATCH the Sheriff's Video Conference Below:

Bishop O'Connell, was born in Ireland in 1953, was named an auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles by Pope Francis in 2015.
