Pope Francis Authorizes a Miracle Healing of an Unborn Baby and Brings 5 People Closer to Sainthood Including 2 Lay Women



Promulgation of Decrees of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, 23.02.2023
During the audience granted to His Eminence Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, the Supreme Pontiff authorized the same Dicastery to promulgate the Decrees concerning:
- This approved miracle allows the Servant of God's case for canonization to advance: the miracle attributed to the intercession of the Venerable Servant of God Elisabetta Martinez, Foundress of the Congregation of the Daughters of Santa Maria di Leuca; born on March 25, 1905 in Galatina (Italy) and died on February 8, 1991 in Rome (Italy);


The miracle that has been recognized, as reported by Vatican News, is the healing of an unborn baby from "thrombosis and complete calcific occlusion of the fetal left umbilical artery with extensive placental infarction and plurifocal villous alterations such as from hypoxemia as well as extremely serious intrauterine fetal growth retardation associated on condition of brain sparing». Informed of the very serious situation faced by a mother from Rimini, the Superior General of the Congregation of the Daughters of Santa Maria di Leuca started a prayer novena in the various communities to ask for a miracle through the intercession of the Foundress. Prayers accompanied the entire pregnancy and the baby was born on March 19, 2018 in good condition.

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Aloísio Sebastião Boeing, professed priest of the Congregation of Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, founder of the Marian Fraternity of the Heart of Jesus; born on December 24, 1913 in Vargem do Cedro (Brazil) and died on April 17, 2006 in Jaraguá do Sul (Brazil);
- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Maria Margherita Lussana (born: Teresa Caterina), Co-foundress of the Congregation of the Ursuline Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Asola; born on 14 November 1852 in Seriate (Italy) and died there on 27 February 1935;
- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Francisca Ana María Alcover Morell, Lay Faithful; born on 19 October 1912 in Sóller (Spain) and died there on 10 March 1954;
- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Albertina Violi Zirondoli, lay faithful and mother of a family; born July 1, 1901 in Carpi (Italy) and died July 18, 1972 in Rome (Italy).
