RIP - 3 People Killed and 21 Injured in Bus Accident on Catholic Pilgrimage to Mexico's Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe



3 people were killed and 21 injured in bus accident on pilgrimage to Mexico's Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe on February 5th, 2023. Bishop of Tehuacán, Monsignor Gonzalo Alonso Calzada Guerrero, from their local church, joined in prayer, wishing the three victims eternal rest.
The three fatal victims were men, Flavio Vicario Tegchi, Juan Romero Rodriguez and Tomas Feliciano Quixtiano, who participated in the annual diocesan pilgrimage to the Basilica of Guadalupe, together with a group of parishioners. At least 20 of them were seriously injured, including two minors who unfortunately lost limbs.
On Sunday, February 5, during the Eucharistic celebrations that were officiated in the highest Guadalupe compound, prayers were raised to ask for the eternal rest of Flavio Vicario Tegchi, Juan Romero Rodriguez and Tomas Feliciano Quixtiano, as well as for the speedy recovery of the injured.
The local diocese issued this statement:
Tehuacan Diocesan Church in unity with our father and pastor, Mons. Gonzalo Alonso Calzada Guerrero, we deeply regret the death of our brothers and some others injured, due to the bus accident in which they were pilgrims from the city of Ajalpan, Pue., heading to the Basilica of Guadalupe, on the occasion of the annual diocesan pilgrimage, the morning of February 5. In the Eucharistic celebration we had at the Basilica, we asked for the eternal rest of those who passed away and for the speedy recovery of those who are injured. May Our Blessed Mother of Guadalupe give her maternal comfort to the families of those who passed away.
