Vatican Releases that Pope Francis has a "Severe Cold" and Cancels a Meeting of the Day

On February 23rd, Pope Francis canceled an audience of the day. Also, the pope did not read his speeches at the audiences he did attend during the day. The Holy See wrote in their press release: "The planned Audience at the YMCA Christian Youth Federation – Italy was canceled due to a severe cold of the Holy Father."

He did however meet with the Max Planck Society of Germany to discuss science and with a group of Orthodox monks. The pope also met with His Eminence Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, to advance the causes of 5 people and authorized a miracle healing.

Pope Francis received Mr. David M. Beasley, executive director of the World Food Programme, on his farewell visit; the Reverend Don Julián Carrón; and the Reverend Don Pasquale Spinoso.
