Imprisoned Catholic Bishop Rolando Alvarez Appears in State Approved Video with his Relatives in Nicaragua



On the 25th of March the station Canal 4 Nicaragua released a state approved video of the imprisoned Bishop Rolando Álvarez with his relatives. On February 10th, 2023 he was sentenced to 26 years in prison for his criticism of the Ortega Murillo dictatorship. In the video he eats a meal with his relatives and appears happy. He thanks the blessed Virgen Mary for the grace of seeing his relatives on the Solemnity of the Annunciation of Our Lord. On February 9th, 222 political prisoners were exiled to the USA. However, Bishop Álvarez chose to remain in Nicaragua in solidarity with the people. The United Nations has called for his release and many social activists, including the US Religious Freedom Commission, Bianca Jagger, and others are campaigning for him.
