Vatican's New Mall Caput Mundi Opens with Hopes for the 2025 Jubilee Year



A new shopping mall is just 100 meters from St. Peter's Basilica. The company Gasak Inc. spent $10 Million on the center which is 120,000 square feet and called the “Caput Mundi” Mall. It plans welcome the average four million visitors to the Vatican per year but also the 35 million people expected for the 2025 Jubilee Year. Caput Mundi is Latin for head of the world, which refers to Rome as the capital of the world. The mall is located in a parking area and is managed by the Vatican’s Dicastery for Evangelization which leased it to the Gasak company. Currently the mall has 40 stores and can hold 1,000 cars.
It opened on March 16, 2023 and was under construction since 2020.

This means being able to go shopping in the city centre without having to look for parking, because all visitors to the mall can leave their car in the multi-storey car park in the same building.
