Pope Francis Visits Gemelli Hospital for a Brief Checkup and Returns to the Vatican




Pope Francis visited Gemelli hospital on June 6th and returned to the Vatican before noon. Vatican News released that the Pope returned to Gemelli University Policlinic on June 6th – just for a quick checkup.
The director of the Holy See’s Press Office, Matteo Bruni, confirmed the visit, in response to questions from journalists. Some media reports this morning said that the Pope had gone back to the hospital. Bruni’s statement explained that the Pope underwent some clinical examinations “and returned to the Vatican before noon.”
The Pope was admitted to Gemelli earlier this year, on March 29, for infections bronchitis, and was discharged after three days, on April 1st.
