LISTEN to a Beautiful Ave Maria by Jacques Arcadelt - Composer of the Sistine Chapel - It will Touch your Soul!
Jacques Arcadelt (1507 – 1568) was a Franco-Flemish composer of the Renaissance. In 1538, he obtained an appointment with the papal choir at St. Peter's Basilica; and he became a member of the Sistine Chapel, where he was appointed magister puerorum. Arcadelt remained in Rome as a singer and composer at the Sistine Chapel until 1551. This is his composition of the "Ave Maria" which is a prayer to Mary found in the Bible's Gospel of Luke.

'Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum.
Benedicta tu in mulieribus,
Et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Jesus.'
Hail Mary, Full of grace, the Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
'Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus,
Sancta Maria, ora pro nobis, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae.
Amen.'
