A Catholic priest from the Opus Dei has died suddenly on November 28, 2023, in Montreal, Canada.
Opus Dei Canada wrote on "X":
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Fr. Fadi Sarraf, 51, who passed away today suddenly of an apparent heart attack while preaching a retreat at the Manoir de Beaujeu. May he rest in peace.
Archbishop Georg Gänswein (Germany) ordained Fr Sarraf as a priest, on May 22, 2021.
Fadi Sarraf, was born in Damascus, Syria, he came to Canada at 17 to study engineering at McGill University.   He asked to join Opus Dei in 1990. After graduating as a mechanical engineer he received a Master’s in Business Administration at Laval University in Quebec City.
After his MBA I became the director of Ernescliff College, a large university student residence on the campus of the University of Toronto. He also worked part-time at Northmount, an independent school for boys, where I was in charge of the character formation program. In 1997 he moved to Montreal where I started working for the Foundation for Culture and Education as a project manager and fundraiser.
He received a master’s in Theology from the University of Navarre in Spain. He moved to Rome in 2020, to start a doctorate in Spiritual Theology. He said "as a priest you become a priest 100%, so you leave behind your other activities."
