A New Saint for Youth! Vatican Official Announces that the Canonization of Pier Giorgio Frassati will Occur during the Jubilee Year



The canonization of Pier Giorgio Frassati will take place in 2025.
The official announcement was made by Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, during the 18th National Assembly of Italian Catholic Action, in Sacrofano, Italy. “I would like to tell you that the canonization of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati is now clear on the horizon and looming for the next jubilee year,” he said. He was then interrupted by a long applause! Pope Saint John Paul II beatified Pier Giorgio in 1990. 
The canonization date has not yet been announced.

Pier Giorgio Michelangelo Frassati was born in Turin, Italy on April 6, 1901.
At an early age, Pier Giorgio joined the Marian Sodality and the Apostleship of Prayer, and obtained permission to receive daily Communion (which was rare at that time).
He developed a deep spiritual life which he never hesitated to share with his friends. The Holy Eucharist and the Blessed Virgin were the two poles of his world of prayer.
