
The Vatican Postal and Philately Service released on Tuesday, May 27, the new issue for the beginning of the Pontificate of the new Bishop of Rome, with four types of stamps. On the same day, other issues already scheduled are also planned, such as the one for the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicea and for the fifth centenary of the birth of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina.
The Vatican City stamps dedicated to Pope Leo XIV are ready. The Vatican Postal and Philately Service announces that the new stamp issue for the beginning of the Pontificate of Leo XIV with a series that includes the values corresponding to the four amounts currently in force for the Vatican City State: 1.25 – 1.30 – 2.45 – 3.20 euros. There will also be the new stamp issues already scheduled for the official program for 2025. These are those for the fifth centenary of the birth of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, for the 50th anniversary of the canonization of Saint Vicenta Maria, for the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicea, and those dedicated to the Witnesses of Hope, with Saint Mary of Jesus Crucified Baouardy and for the Europa Series, the national archaeological discoveries.
The series dedicated to Pope Leo XIV
As for the series dedicated to the beginning of the Pontificate of Leo XIV, the 1.25 euro stamp shows the Pontiff greeting the faithful from the Loggia delle Benedizioni after his election. The 2.45 euro stamp shows him at the end of his first greeting to the faithful and the world, while the 1.30 and 3.20 euro stamps show two moments from the Missa Pro Ecclesia on May 9 in the Sistine Chapel. The postmark shows Leo XIV greeting the faithful after the Regina Coeli on May 11.
The Postal Service reminds philatelic collectors that these issues will soon be available with a print run in line with market demand on the e-shop sales channels of the Philatelic and Numismatic Marketing, on the website www.cfn.va , which will be reactivated in the coming summer period.
