Pope Leo XIV 'Deeply Saddened' by Attack on Orthodox Church Sends Message of Condolences and Prayers - FULL TEXT

Pope Leo XIV sent a telegram of condolences and prayers on June 24th, for the victims and their families of the suicide bombing at St. Elias church in Damascus, Syris.

The pope expressed his sincere condolences for those who lost nearly 30 loved ones in the suicide bombing at St. Elias parish in Damascus, Syria.
The message, signed by Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Pope expressed that he was "deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and destruction caused by the attack on the Greek Orthodox Church of Mar Elias." He expressed his deepest solidarity with those struck by the incident.
FULL TEXT Telegram: His Holiness Pope Leo XIV was deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and destruction caused by the attack on the Greek Orthodox Church of Mar Elias in Damascus, and he expresses heartfelt solidarity with all those affected by this tragedy. In commending the souls of the deceased to the loving mercy of our heavenly Father, his Holiness likewise prays for those who mourn their loss, for the recovery of the injured, and invokes the almighty’s gifts of consolation, healing and peace upon the nation.
