
Pope Leo XIV is going on a summer vacation to Castel Gandolfo - reviving a papal tradition. The pope will spend half of July and a weekend in August at the papal residence in Castel Gandolfo, near Rome, celebrating Sunday Mass in local churches and praying the Angelus with pilgrims in the town's Liberty Square. Pope Leo XIV will resume the tradition of spending some time in Castel Gandolfo during the summer holidays.
According to a statement published by the Prefecture of the Papal Household on Tuesday, the Holy Father will spend two separate periods in the hilltop town near Rome.
FULL TEXT STATEMENT of the Holy See:
On the afternoon of Sunday 6 July, the Holy Father Leo XIV will move for a period of rest to the Pontifical Villas of Castel Gandolfo.
On Sunday 13 July, at 10:00 am in the Pontifical Parish of San Tommaso da Villanova in Castel Gandolfo, the Holy Father will celebrate Holy Mass. At 12:00 pm he will recite the Angelus prayer in Piazza della Libertà, in front of the Apostolic Palace.
On Sunday, July 20, at 9:30 a.m., the Holy Father will celebrate Holy Mass in the Cathedral of Albano. At 12:00 p.m., he will recite the Angelus in Piazza della Libertà in Castel Gandolfo. In the afternoon, the Holy Father will return to the Vatican.

During the month of July, all private hearings and the general hearings on Wednesdays 2, 9, 16, 23 remain suspended.
General hearings will resume on Wednesday, July 30.

On Friday, August 15, at 10:00 a.m., the Holy Father will celebrate Holy Mass in the Pontifical Parish of Castel Gandolfo. At 12:00 p.m., the Angelus will follow in Piazza della Libertà.
On Sunday 17 August at 12:00 the Angelus will be in Piazza della Libertà in Castel Gandolfo. In the afternoon the Holy Father will return to the Vatican.
