Blessed John Paul I the "Smiling Pope" whose Pontificate Lasted Only 34 Days! Saint of August 26

August 26, is the liturgical memory of Blessed John Paul I, the Pope of the "smile of God". He was born as Albino Luciani on 17 October 1912, in Forno di Canale, Italy. He died on 28 September 1978 (aged 65) in the Apostolic Palace, Vatican City. He was buried in the Vatican Grottoes, St. Peter's Basilica. He was Educated at the Pontifical Gregorian University (PhD) and his motto was Humilitas (Latin for 'Humility').
Albino Luciani (1912-1978) was beatified on September 4, 2022 in Saint Peter Square by Pope Francis. His feast is remembered on the day of his election to the pontiff, after an quick conclave, that lasted only 26 hours and resulted in a near-unanimous consensus. The exact moment of his election as Bishop of Rome was remembered by Argentinian Cardinal Eduardo Francisco Pironio as follows:
“I was standing right in front of him and watching him. All the Cardinals have been waiting for their ‘yes’ A 'yes' to Christ, to the church as a servant and to humanity as a good shepherd. I saw it with a deep serenity, the fruit of an interior that does not improvise. ”

Remembering his pontificate, emphasizes his commitment to preserving evangelical discipline and virtues, continuity of ecumenical effort, promotion of serene dialogue, and support for peace initiatives in a troubled world.
John Paul I's reflections and priorities, expressed during his 34 days as Pope, remain relevant.
The application recently released a new prayer to beg your intercession and request your canonization:
Blessed John Paul I, you who, by word and example, taught us to live grace of baptism and the gift of faith, hope and charity; you who modeled evangelical simplicity and showed us the wisdom of humility; you who, as a pontiff, made yourself close to all and, as a messenger of the Good News, showed love for the poor and witnessed the eternal mercy of God, who is father, and moreover, is mother; you who pursue unity, dialogue and peace, following Christ, the Prince of Peace;
pray for the Church that you loved and served so much, pray for us, your children, and grant us the Lord the grace to follow you on the path of virtues and Blessings.
Grant us now, Lord, through the intercession of Blessed John Paul I, the grace that with faith we ask you...
And if this is Your will, allow it to be canonized to the glory of Your name and the good of Your church.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord Amen.
