Pope Leo XIV Meets Poland's New President Nawrocki who said the Blessed Virgin Mary is the “Mother of our Nation” - VIDEO

Poland's new President Karol Nawrocki, and his family, was received in audience by Pope Leo XIV. The president invited the Holy Father to Poland. He presented the Pope with a painting of Our Lady of Gietrzwałd and said that Mary is the “Mother of our Nation”.

President Karol Nawrocki arrived at the Vatican yesterday afternoon. The first part of his visit was strictly spiritual. He and his family passed through the Holy Door in St. Peter's Basilica and then prayed at the tomb of St. John Paul II.
During the cordial talks, held at the Secretariat of State, the socio-political situation of the country was discussed, with particular reference to the values on which Polish society is founded and the need to build consensus in the light of the challenges it has to address.

The conversation then turned to matters of an international nature, with special attention to the conflict in Ukraine and European security.
The new president was welcomed to the Vatican by Bishop Krzysztof Nykiel, Regent of the Apostolic Penitentiary. In his presence, he recited a prayer to the Holy Spirit, a prayer particularly dear to St. John Paul II. "May this papal legacy of the Spirit also become an inspiration not only to deepen his personal bond with God, but also a special support from heaven for his holy, enlightened, beautiful, and courageous service to the good of our beloved homeland," said Bishop Nykiel.
