Wow Pope Leo XIV Provides Free Lunch to 1,300 Poor and says "Let us also give the Lord's blessing to the many people suffering from violence, war..."

In the Vatican Paul VI Hall, 1,300 guests—the poor, the displaced, the forgotten—were invited to come to share a free lunch with Pope Leo XIV on the Ninth World Day of the Poor. The dishes served were simple: vegetable lasagna, cutlets, fruit from Naples, and babà for dessert. At one table, a young Missionary of Charity fed a baby from a bottle. After reciting the Angelus in St. Peter’s Square, Pope Leo XIV came to the Hall to have lunch with those gathered there. Vincentian volunteers—marking the 400th anniversary of their founder— were serving and smiling.
In the foyer, they had prepared a personal-care kit for every guest, complete with a small panettone, a traditional Italian Christmas cake. Guests came from near and far: from the Roman suburb of Primavalle, from Nigeria and Ukraine, from Cuba and Barcelona. The Missionaries of Charity had brought several mothers from their house on the outskirts of Rome, where women in crisis find temporary refuge.

Good morning everyone. Good morning!
With great joy we gather this afternoon for lunch, on the Day [of the Poor] that our beloved predecessor, Pope Francis , so desired . A loud round of applause for Pope Francis.
This lunch we are now receiving is offered by Providence and the great generosity of the Community of St. Vincent, the Vincentians, whom we wish to thank. It's also an anniversary: 400 years since the birth of their founder. They will be with us, serving at the table. Best wishes to all of you, the priests, the nuns, and the lay volunteers who work around the world helping so many poor people and those experiencing various needs. We are truly, truly filled with this spirit of thanksgiving and gratitude on this day.
Now, then, let us ask the Lord to bless the gifts we will receive, to bless the lives of each of us present here, our loved ones, our family members, the people who have done so much to accompany us. Let us also offer the Lord's blessing to the many people suffering from violence, war, and hunger; and may we today celebrate this feast in a spirit of fraternity.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Bless us, Lord, and these gifts we receive from your providence. Bless our lives, our brotherhood. Help us all to always walk united in your love. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Best wishes and bon appetit!
