Pro-Life Activists Red Rose Rescuers Walk Out of Court with Reduced Charges -- Time Served, No Probation, No Fines

In a legal development out of Pennsylvania, six pro-life activists involved in a "Red Rose Rescue" at an abortion clinic have seen their criminal charges dismissed following a plea agreement.
In the town of Media, Pennsylvania, at the Delaware County Courthouse, six Red Rose Rescuers participated in a special plea hearing which resulted in significantly reduced charges that effectively removed all criminal misdemeanors.

Summary of the Case

The hearing stemmed from a Red Rose Rescue carried out in nearby Chester on July 31st of 2025. On the day of the rescue there were 6 arrests: 3 pro-life counselors on the 1st floor hallway of the old hospital building housing the abortion mill; and 3 rescuers handing out roses inside the waiting room of the center.

On January 12, 2026, the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas dismissed misdemeanor charges of defiant trespass and disorderly conduct against six individuals. To secure the dismissal, the defendants pleaded "nolo contendere" (no contest).

The charges stemmed from a non-violent protest last year at the Delaware County Women’s Center, where activists distributed roses and information regarding abortion pill reversal, while some utilized "holy water" and "blessed salt" during the demonstration.

Key Highlights

  • The Legal Outcome: The charges were dismissed with no fines, no probation, and no community service required. This followed a significant reduction in their initial bond from $20,000 to $2,000.

  • The Participants: The group consisted of activists from across the U.S. (NJ, WI, TX, MI, MN, and OH), including Monica Miller, founder of Red Rose Rescue. Most are Catholic, with one evangelical member.

  • Notable History: Two of the defendants, Joan Andrews Bell and William Goodman, were previously pardoned by Donald Trump for past convictions under the FACE Act.

  • The Facility: The protest targeted a center that provides medication-based abortions (using mifepristone and misoprostol) rather than surgical procedures.

  • Nature of the "Rescue": The 90-minute event was reported as non-violent. While police noted the use of "unknown liquids" (holy water), the activists were removed from the premises without incident.
