Israel and the United States carried out joint strikes on Tehran and several other Iranian cities early Saturday, February 28th, 2026, targeting the office of Iran’s supreme leader, the presidential compound and multiple military sites across the country, according to Iranian and regional reports.Iran responded with retaliatory attacks on Israel. Nearly 300 people have been killed according to reports (see video below).
Explosions were also heard in Dubai, Doha, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait.
The Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia has therefore suspended all Church activities and appeals to the faithful to remain calm, follow civil authorities’ instructions, and gather in prayer for peace.

Vatican News reported that, according to Iranian state media reports, at least 53 people were killed at a girls' school in the city of Minab in the south of the country.

In this time of uncertainty, I ask all the faithful of the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia to remain calm, united in prayer, and attentive to the safety of everyone. Please follow carefully the instructions of the civil authorities and take all necessary precautions in your homes, workplaces, and parishes.
I also direct all parish priests and rectors to take appropriate action and to make the necessary decisions, with prudence and responsibility, to ensure the safety of the faithful entrusted to their care. Let us remain united in faith and charity, caring especially for the elderly, the sick, and the vulnerable.
