
The Holy See Press Office has officially detailed the itinerary for Pope Leo XIV’s Apostolic Journey to Africa, scheduled for April 13–23, 2026. This marks the third international trip of his pontificate, following a 2025 visit to the Middle East (Türkiye and Lebanon) and an upcoming trip to Monaco on March 28.
Across 11 days, the Pope will visit 11 cities, delivering 10 addresses, 8 homilies, and 6 greetings.
🇩🇿 Algeria: April 13 – April 15
Monday, April 13 (Algiers): * Arrival in the capital.
Visit to the Maqam Echahit Martyr’s Monument (Greeting).
Meeting with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune at the Presidential Palace.
Address to civil authorities and diplomats at the “Djamaa el Djazair” Conference Center.
Visit to the Great Mosque of Algiers.
Private visit to the Augustinian Missionary Sisters’ Welcome and Friendship Center in Bab El Oued.
Address to the Algerian community at the Basilica of Our Lady of Africa.
Tuesday, April 14 (Annaba & Algiers):
Flight to Annaba (ancient Hippo).
Visit to the archaeological site of Hippo and the Little Sisters of the Poor nursing home (Greeting).
