Florida Diocese Combats Housing Crisis by Offering Tiny Homes in New Village for Low Income Seniors

A New Beginning: Trinity Village

In a direct response to the escalating housing crisis in Florida, Trinity House LLC (an initiative of the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee) broke ground on Trinity Village in September 2024. This innovative community of nine tiny homes is designed specifically to offer a dignified, stable, and affordable sanctuary for those most at risk of falling through the cracks.

Supporting Our Seniors

While housing insecurity affects many, Trinity Village focuses its mission on senior citizens. Our elders are increasingly vulnerable as they face a "perfect storm" of financial pressures:

  • Fixed Incomes: Social Security and pensions often fail to keep pace with inflation.

  • Rising Costs: Skyrocketing rents, property taxes, and insurance premiums are pricing seniors out of their lifelong neighborhoods.

  • Maintenance Burdens: The physical and financial cost of home repairs can quickly exhaust a senior's limited resources.

More Than Just a Roof

Trinity Village isn’t just about providing four walls; it’s about fostering a community of growth and wellness. Residents will have access to comprehensive support services, including:

  • Case Management & Mentoring: Professional guidance to ensure physical, mental, and financial health.

  • Administrative Advocacy: Hands-on assistance in securing essential documents like ID cards, driver’s licenses, and Social Security benefits.

  • Benefit Coordination: Helping residents navigate applications for food stamps and other vital senior services.
