Hundreds Attend 16th Annual March for Life in Belgium with Youth and Families Filling the Streets with Pro-Life Values

Around 700 people gathered in Brussels, Belgium, on April 18, for the 16th annual March for Life, organized by the group Clara Life. Participants filled the streets of the Belgian capital sporting slogans like "Give life preference over death" to advocate for pro-life values.

Key Points of the March

The event served as a platform to challenge current and proposed legislation in Belgium, specifically focusing on three pillars:

  • Abortion: Clara Life President Wouter Suenens argued that abortion is not a sign of social progress, stating, "A just society does not pit the woman against the child, but protects both."

  • Surrogacy: The movement voiced strong opposition to upcoming legislation regarding surrogacy.

  • Euthanasia: Protesters criticized plans to expand euthanasia to include patients with dementia. They warned that such a move represents a "dangerous shift" that increases pressure on the vulnerable rather than providing them with genuine support.

The Organizer's Goal

Clara Life aims to move the needle on Belgian public discourse. Their primary motivation is to critically reintroduce the topics of abortion, surrogacy, and euthanasia into the national debate, challenging the status quo of existing legal frameworks.
