Just Before Leaving Algeria Pope Leo XIV Celebrated Mass and made a Visit to the Nursery Run by Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity

Pope's final visit in Algeria before Cameroon

On the last day of his journey in Algeria, Pope Leo XIV con-celebrated a private Mass, with the nuncio Archbishop Javier Herrera Corona and Cardinal Jean Paul Vesco, in the Apostolic Nunciature in Algiers in the morning.

Afterward, Pope Leo XIV made a point of visiting the Notre-Dame-d'Afrique nursery, run by the Missionaries of Charity.

Welcomed with songs and smiles, the Holy Father watched a short performance prepared by the children. In a moment of great simplicity, he greeted each of them, then the sisters, thanking them for their service to the youngest members of society.

It was on this note of tenderness and concern for the most vulnerable that Leo XIV then went to the airport, bound for Yaoundé, the second leg of his first apostolic journey to the African continent.
