Over 40,000 at Polish March for Life Including Poland's President Nawrocki on 1060th Anniversary of Christianity in the Country

Thousands of participants in the National March for Life once again marched through the streets of Warsaw.

The event was held under the slogan "Faith and Fidelity 966–2026", which referred to the 1060th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland.

In front of the Presidential Palace, the event participants were welcomed by the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki.

"Faith and Fidelity 966–2026" – under this slogan (referring to the 1060th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland), another National March for Life marched through the streets of the capital. The event began at 11:00 a.m. with Holy Masses celebrated at the Archcathedral Basilica of the Martyrdom of John the Baptist and at the Warsaw-Praga Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel and St. Florian. Later, Castle Square filled with thousands of people holding banners with life-affirming slogans, flags with Polish national colors, and those representing movements and associations representing important figures in the history of our homeland.
The Polish Catholic Church stands admirably and uncompromisingly on the side of the protection of life, thus fulfilling a fundamental Christian mission. Therefore, the Polish Catholic Bishops' Conference (KEP) once again assumed patronage of the March for Life in Warsaw this year. KEP President Archbishop Tadeusz Wojda (Gdańsk) served as honorary patron and extended a personal invitation to participate via video. Other bishops also created invitation videos and messages of greeting. Two pro-life Masses were celebrated by auxiliary bishops to offer the large number of Catholics among the participants an opportunity to attend. Auxiliary Bishop Piotr Jarecki (Archdiocese of Warsaw) emphasized in his homily: "The sanctity of life from conception to natural death is the primary, inalienable value." After the Mass, he invited attendees to consider the spiritual adoption of an unborn child.

In the first part of the meeting, participants listened to short speeches from representatives of the organizers and pro-life movements, as well as invited guests. One of them was the chaplain to the President of the Republic of Poland, Father Jarosław Wąsowicz, who thanked those gathered for their testimony, for their presence, and for fulfilling the legacy left by previous generations.

– John Paul II called the Jasna Góra Vows of the Polish Nation the Polish charter of human rights – said the priest.

At the same time, he recalled the support of President Karol Nawrocki, who welcomed the participants of the National March for Life as they approached the Presidential Palace.

"Thousands of people in the heart of Warsaw are demonstrating how important life is to Poland, how important family is to Poland. That's why the President of Poland cannot be absent here today. I thank the organizers and the wonderful Polish families," said Karol Nawrocki. He emphasized that the march initiative is necessary and a response to the deep demographic crisis.

As the participants of the March for Life marched along Senatorska and Wierzbowa Streets, through Marshal Józef Piłsudski Square and again towards Castle Square – along Królewska and Krakowskie Przedmieście Streets, songs, pro-life slogans and speeches were heard.

"We are at this March because we know that human life begins at conception. And we must defend it. This National March for Life is a sign of opposition to all those who raise their hands against unborn children," said Marcin Perłowski, director of the Center for Life and Family and vice president of Ordo Iuris, in his next speech.

As he noted, there are many indications that abortion bills will be taken up again in the Sejm of the Republic of Poland.

"We do not consent to this! This March is a spark. This March sends a clear message to the Sejm and to all corners of Poland: 'Stop abortion! Stop abortion! Yes to life!'" he appealed.

Thousands of people in the heart of Warsaw are showing how important life and family are to Poland – and this is an expression of that. That's why the President of Poland cannot be absent here today. I thank the organizers and wonderful Polish families – @NawrockiKn .

At Castle Square, Professor Tonio Borg, President of the European Federation "One of Us," who came to the March at the invitation of the Polish Federation of Pro-Life Movements, called for the courage to actively participate in the defense of life and to bear witness to care for the most vulnerable at risk of abortion.

"Do not be afraid of being slandered and ridiculed because you want to protect life from the moment of conception. Do not be afraid of being sidelined and called various names because you defend life. Do not be afraid to openly demonstrate your commitment to life, to put pressure on legislators and influential people to defend life. Do not be afraid to organize to show Europe and the world that the unborn child is one of us," he said, referring to St. John Paul II's appeal to Poles in 1979.

Professor Borg cited the example of Malta, where he comes from. Killing babies through abortion is prohibited there. Doctors in difficult cases where the mother's life is at risk save both patients, but this is the only situation where the child's death can be necessary to save the mother's life. Professor Tonio Borg emphasized that the Catholic Church in Malta supports pro-life movements, despite the rhetoric of the abortion lobby suggesting that Christian values are imposed on non-believers.

– Our answer is: abortion is not wrong because the Christian Churches condemn it, but the Christian Churches condemn abortion because it is wrong – he emphasized.

At the same time, the chairman of the European Federation "One of Us" noted that for the first time under the European Social Fund, which has existed for 70 years, funds from all taxpayers will be used to finance abortion in all Community countries.

"This is illegal. It violates the principle of subsidiarity," he added, announcing that the organization he chairs opposes the decision.

"We have turned a blind eye to this modern-day holocaust out of selfishness. But all is not lost. If we can gather our strength, combine it, and remain united, we can achieve results," added Professor Borg. He also recalled that the European Union was founded on Christian values and should remind Europe and the world of its pride in them.

This year's March for Life ended with a concert by the young Polish singer anMari and a picnic at Castle Square

The March for Life was organized by the Saint Benedict Foundation and numerous pro-life associations and institutions. The event was held under the honorary patronage of the Polish Episcopal Conference. Partners included the Center for Life and Family and the Ordo Iuris Institute.

The National March for Life culminated the " Time for Love " initiative.
