2 Brothers Ordained Priests on the Same Day in Brazil as the Church Rejoices!

In Brazil, two brothers are ordained priests in a celebration marked by emotion and faith in Guarapuava.

The diocese of Guarapuava, released that on Saturday, May 23, 2026, the community of the Santa Cruz and Nossa Senhora das Dores Parish in Guarapuava experienced a historic and deeply moving moment with the priestly ordination of brothers Anderson Carlos Ramos and Emerson Luiz Ramos. The celebration was presided over by the diocesan bishop of Guarapuava, Dom Amilton Manoel da Silva, who conferred the sacrament of Holy Orders upon them.

The brothers will now follow separate paths within the mission of the Church. Emerson Luiz Ramos was ordained a diocesan priest of the Diocese of Guarapuava, placing his ministry at the service of the communities of the particular Church of Guarapuava, in communion with the diocesan bishop. At the end of the celebration, Bishop Amilton announced that the newly ordained priest will remain in the city of Prudentópolis, serving in the São João Batista Parish, where he exercised his diaconate. Anderson Carlos Ramos was ordained a priest of the Passionist Congregation (CP), living the charism of the Passion of Jesus Christ and the spirituality proper to Passionist religious, present in various parts of the world. His new mission will be communicated later by the congregation.

Bishop Amilton highlighted the beauty and significance of the ordination of two brothers on the same day. “Two brothers ordained together. And today I learned that they were not only born from the same mother's womb, but also from the womb of Mother Church, because they were baptized together ,” the bishop stated. He also emphasized that the ordination of the two represents joy for the entire Church. “Today, ordaining one for the Diocese of Guarapuava and the other for the Passionist Congregation, in truth, for the Church, the entire ecclesial community rejoices,” he said.

The bishop also made a strong appeal in favor of priestly and religious vocations. “Today we commit ourselves even more to praying for vocations and for all consecrated persons and ordained ministers. Many times our young people don't come because of a lack of invitation, a lack of support, a lack of feeling closer. Let us pray for vocations and thank God for the new priests for the Church, Father Emerson and Father Anderson ,” emphasized Bishop Amilton.

After the celebration, the two newly ordained priests spoke about the feelings they experienced during that special moment. Father Emerson emphasized the joy and enthusiasm for the new missionary season that is beginning. “My heart is full of joy and enthusiasm because now the mission begins again. That mission which we undertook as deacons now continues as priests ,” he stated.

Father Anderson summed up the moment with words of gratitude and hope. "My heart is full of enthusiasm for this moment of joy and jubilation here in our parish. So, the word is gratitude, much faith, much joy, and hope," he said.

The emotion also overwhelmed the family, especially the mother of the two priests, Mrs. Lindacir, who attended the celebration with tears and gratitude. “The joy is immense. I have no words to thank God for this great victory He has given me, for my sons being ordained today. It is a great grace. I will be grateful to God until my last breath for the sons I have,” she said, moved.

The celebration brought together family members, priests, religious, seminarians, and faithful from various communities, marking not only the ordination of two new priests, but also a testimony of faith, perseverance, and a generous response to God's call.
