According to reports Pope Leo XIV met with the popular singer Bad Bunny (born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) of Puerto Rico, in Madrid, Spain, on June 8. The rapper, singer, and actor transformed Spanish-language music into a global sensation. Known as the "King of Latin Trap," he blends reggaeton, trap, and rock with fluid fashion choices. He has become a multi-platinum artist, a 7-time Grammy winner, and the first all-Spanish headline act for both Coachella and the [Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show].
They held a private audience on June 8 at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. The meeting took place after the pontiff's gathering with the Madrid Archdiocesan community. No images have been released...yet.
The meeting was attended by several people, including family members of the artist of Puerto Rican roots, whose icon and global representative he has become, especially after his performance at the Super Bowl Halftime Show in the United States a few months ago.
Bad Bunny has always declared himself a Catholic, though not a practicing one, thanks to his deeply religious family. Before his trip to Spain, he himself had asked for the opportunity to meet the Pope. And that's no small thing." The meeting, therefore, took place, as anticipated by local Spanish media and confirmed today by the director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni. And naturally, the news went viral in just a few seconds.
