Celebrating a Milestone: 2 Million Meals and Counting!
Thanks to incredible support, they officially reached the goal of packing 2 million meals! This milestone is a testament to the dedication of amazing parishes and the generosity of the San Diego and Imperial County communities. Together, they’ve shown the profound impact people can make when we unite to serve our neighbors. Catholic Charities, thanked all for helping deliver hope, nourishment, and essential support to families facing food insecurity.
About the Million Meal Event Since 2021, the Million Meal Event has packed more than 5 million meals for hungry families across the border and around the world. On June 13–14, 2026, this extraordinary event returned to Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego, once again bringing the community together to support our brothers and sisters living in poverty.
Over two days, more than 5,100 volunteers—including parish communities, service organizations, schools, and families—joined forces. In addition to volunteering, groups are encouraged to help us reach our collective fundraising goal of $600,000.
Organized by Deacons and their wives, the Diocesan Office of the Permanent Diaconate, Catholic Charities Diocese of San Diego, and the Diocese of San Diego, this faith-in-action initiative is a powerful witness to unity and compassion. United in hope and steadfast in faith, they came together to reflect God’s love, mercy, and hope for our world.
