Official preparations have begun for Pope Leo XIV’s first papal visit to Poland following an August 5, 2026 meeting between Deputy Prime Minister RadosÅ‚aw Sikorski and Archbishop Tadeusz Wojda, President of the Polish Episcopal Conference.
State and Church Collaboration: The pilgrimage is a joint effort between government and ecclesiastical authorities. Official invitations were extended by Poland's state leadership—including Presidents Andrzej Duda and Karol Nawrocki, and Prime Minister Donald Tusk—alongside the Presidium of the Polish Episcopal Conference.
Interagency Coordination: Due to the visit's international diplomatic scope, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will lead coordination efforts on behalf of the Polish government.
Next Steps: Specific dates for the visit have not yet been announced. Once finalized, a joint state-and-church organizing committee will be established to handle planning and logistics.
