On Thursday, July 30, 2026, during Missionary Eucharistic Week at the Parish of the Child God in Cuilapa, Guatemala, a visiting priest celebrated Mass at a local private school.
During Communion, a teenage student received the Sacred Host but attempted to remove it from his mouth upon returning to his seat. The priest intervened immediately, securing the Host before it could fall to the ground. Following Church protocol, the Sacred Host was placed in a vessel of water inside the rectory chapel to allow for natural dissolution.
One week later, on Thursday, August 6, a parish worker noticed that the Host had not dissolved and exhibited red stains resembling blood. A deacon and priest confirmed the observation. On August 15, after gathering initial testimonies and examining the Host alongside a committee of clergy and lay witnesses, the parish priest presented photographs and details of the event to the local Bishop.

POSSIBLE EUCHARISTIC APPRECIATION
On Thursday, July 30, 2026, during the Missionary Eucharistic Week celebrated at our Parish of the Child God in Cuilapa, a priest who came to assist during the Week celebrated Holy Mass at a private school, as instructed by the Parish Priest.
When it came time for Communion, a teenage student from the school lined up to receive Holy Communion. He returned to his place, but the priest noticed the teenager taking the Sacred Host out of his mouth and quickly approached him, preventing him from throwing it on the ground.
Following the established procedures for such cases, the priest placed the Sacred Host in a glass of water in the rectory chapel. The following Thursday, while cleaning the chapel, a parish worker noticed that the Host had not dissolved and had red stains, which appeared to be blood.
At that same moment, a deacon and a priest, alerted by the parish worker, also confirmed the presence of reddish stains that could indeed be blood.
The parish priest questioned the parish worker and recorded his testimony. In the following days, a deacon, a priest, and three laypeople personally examined the Host. On August 15, the parish priest showed photographs of these events to the Bishop.
In light of this event, it is necessary to remember that the Church asks that the matter be judged with prudence and moderation. Throughout history, the Church has received testimony of the real and substantial presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, in this unique form of manifestation. These cases have been neither common nor easy to discern, and therefore cannot be called miracles until a thorough investigation, which must be carried out and will take time, is completed.
The sign we are now sharing with you has been reserved in a special place and will not be on public display. In due course, the Bishop will give us instructions for the necessary discernment and for conducting a study of this possible Eucharistic manifestation.
This event should be a reason for Catholics to renew their faith and devotion to the greatest miracle: the real presence of Jesus Christ in every celebration of Holy Mass.
We urge everyone to exercise prudence and respect regarding this matter, as well as the place and the people who witnessed the sign. May today be a time to make reparation for all the offenses Jesus receives in this Sacrament of Love, an invitation to participate attentively and devoutly in Holy Mass, and an offering to frequently go to confession. Let us not forget that Jesus is alive in the Eucharist; He is not something, He is Someone.
