March for Life President Jennie Bradley Lichter Steps down to be a Full-Time Mom

Jennie Bradley Lichter officially stepped down as the president of the March for Life Education and Defense Fund effective July 31, 2026, to dedicate herself to being a full-time mom. [1, 2]
In a farewell statement published by March for Life, Bradley Lichter shared that her next chapter would focus entirely on family. She noted that raising two tweens and a child entering kindergarten required more time and active presence than her leadership role allowed. [1]
Bradley Lichter took over leadership of the organization and its sister lobbying group in February 2025.  The Board of Directors is actively looking for a new president to head the organization, which organizes the nation’s largest annual anti-abortion demonstration

A Farewell Note from Jennie
Dear Friends:

This note is to wish you the fondest farewell, as I will be stepping down as President of the March for Life effective tomorrow, July 31. My next chapter will be a new one for me: full-time mom.

I have loved this work, which has been the highlight of my professional life. Every single day in this role I have been mindful of the immense blessing of getting to work on behalf of the most precious mission, with a hard-working, faith-driven team around me, leading the world’s most iconic and impactful pro-life organization. I’ve loved traveling across the country to talk with and march alongside students, families, faith leaders, local and national pro-life advocates—all of YOU. I have been humbled and inspired by the stories—so many stories, everywhere I go—of how the March for Life has changed people’s minds and hearts, how for so many Marchers it has sparked a lifetime of action and advocacy on behalf of the unborn, and in some cases, how it has changed the entire trajectory of their lives. I am blown away by the fierce love on display at the pregnancy resource centers and maternity homes I’ve been lucky enough to visit nationwide, and by how many babies’ lives these beautiful organizations have saved and how many women’s lives they have revived with their care. When leaders of pro-life movements in other countries around the world reach out to me asking for advice and looking for connection, as they regularly do, I’m reminded that the impact of the March for Life reaches even well beyond our nation’s borders. And what an immense gift to lead the March for Life in America’s 250th year! We can never tire of reminding our fellow Americans that our nation was built first and foremost on the inalienable right to LIFE.

As I look back on my tenure, I’m so proud of the unforgettable 2026 National March for Life and its timeless theme, “Life is a Gift.” We were thrilled to introduce the pro-life movement to the joyful music of the Friends of Club 21 Choir, the searing testimony of Sarah Hurm, and, at our Rose Dinner Gala, the life-affirming ballet of choreographer Claire Kretzschmar and her colleagues. We were honored to give Vice President Vance the opportunity—for the second year in a row—to talk with the pro-life movement, to see and hear the movement encouraging him and the Administration of which he is a part to continue to prioritize protecting the unborn. And most of all, we were awestruck by the tireless determination of our movement, traveling to Washington from every direction on the cusp of a historic winter storm to fill the National Mall and the streets of our capital city with your joy-filled witness.

In countless conversations, public and private, I have doggedly made the case for ending the scourge of chemical abortion and for other pro-life policy priorities. With our twin goals of speaking to the head and speaking to the heart, the MFL team and I have continued to prioritize communicating the truth about human life and the harms of abortion—because the truth IS pro-life—and also communicating the beauty and joy of parenthood and the infinite preciousness of every single baby, no matter the circumstances.

Behind the scenes, the team and I have worked hard under the banner of “operational excellence” to continue to refine the back-end workings of this 50+ year old organization. As a former nonprofits attorney, I have a true zeal for efficiency, good process, careful planning, smooth and sound operations, and fiscal discipline. I’m proud of the hard work that the whole team has put into the seemingly boring but immensely important hidden elements of running an organization.

In all of this, from the day I said “Yes” to the March for Life and throughout all the years of my career, I have dedicated the work of my hands to the Lord, humbly following His call on my life and obediently doing the work He has entrusted to me.

And from the day I said Yes to the March, as throughout the dozen years since my first child was born, I have worked diligently at the professional calling given to me while knowing that my most important work of all—and the one place where I am truly indispensable—is in my home. My most important titles of all are not “President”—but “wife” and “Mom.”

Brian and I are raising two tweens and a rising kindergartner, and it has become very clear that my family needs more of my time and my active presence than I’m able to give while leading the March for Life. And so I must step away.

Thank you, dear Marchers, for embracing me and my family. We will forever cherish this season in our lives when we were called upon to step out and take our turn carrying the baton for Life.

I look forward to staying involved with the MFL as a Senior Advisor, supporter, and (of course) Marcher for years to come.

For Life,

Jennie

———————————————————–

“We are so deeply grateful for Jennie Bradley Lichter’s tenure at the March for Life. Her role as a strategic advocate and trusted voice among elected officials, coalition partners, and faith leaders made her an invaluable choice to lead the March. Jennie was uniquely positioned to guide the organization through one of the movement’s most consequential seasons. Her ability to celebrate victories, acknowledge challenges, inspire confidence, and keep people focused on the road ahead helped fuel our cause’s continued momentum.

Jennie is leaving a fantastic, hard-working team in place with tremendous energy behind our mission, and we are delighted that she will remain involved with the March for Life as a Senior Advisor.

We are proud to continue to be a catalyst for the pro-life movement and look forward to sharing news of the new president when the board concludes its search.”
