#BreakingNews One Killed at home of Retired Catholic Cardinal Rivera in Mexico

There was an armed assault at the home of retired Cardinal Rivera. An auxiliary police officer was shot dead at the door of Cardinal Norberto Rivera Carrera in Mexico City. The gunmen arrived at the cardinal's home on Oct. 21 at around 3 p.m. According to reports, at least two men arrived in a delivery vehicle and said they were delivering an envelope.  Then "they were able to force open" the door and enter "three meters" into the property. Gunshots were exchanged with an auxiliary police officer providing security.  Jose Javier Hernandez Nava, a member of the Banking and Industrial Police, a unit of the local Public Security Secretariat, was killed. The suspects fled in a pair of SUVs. Cardinal Rivera was home but not hurt. The suspects remain at large. Cardinal Rivera served as archbishop of Mexico City for 22 years. He retired in June 2017 and was succeeded by Cardinal Carlos Aguiar Retes. The current Cardinal Aguiar expressed support his predecessor and offered prayers for Hernandez and his family.
