3 Churches Attacked on the Weekend in Maryland and Priest Consoles Parishioners after Fire and Vandalism at Catholic Church - VIDEO

Three churches in close proximity were attacked on the weekend of July 9th-10th. On July 9th a fire at North Bethesda United Methodist Church resulted in minor damage and headstones were damaged at Wildwood Baptist Church. St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, in Bethesda, Maryland was attacked on Sunday, July 10th, 2022.
The parish released a video showing a fire on the pews of the interior of the church. After the images of the fire, opening remarks were given by Fr. Samuel Giese.
Excerpts from Fr. Samuel Giese:
Last night our church was vandalized; people broke in they overturned statues they tore down the stations of the cross they desecrated the tabernacle and tried to set the church on fire. I believe that this is because of the church's stand on the issue of life when it begins and that it should be protected and that this is one of the manifestations of the deep divisions right now within our country.
(Remarks by Fr. Samuel start at 1:20 Mark on Video below)

That there are those who believe that we do not have even the right to practice our faith and so I'm sorry to share this news with you however this is the important thing to remember, however, we are the church we are the living we are the Body of Christ. We are the ones who have been nourished by God consecrated by God we are the ones whom God has called to be the light of the earth to the to the world and the salt of the earth and I am reminded of a story I once heard about an occasion in Russia after the Bolshevik revolution had just taken over. A member of the Bolshevik said to an old woman as she entered her church we will pull down your churches and you will have nothing to remind you of your God and she said really can you pull down the stars from the sky too and that's what we are here today, and so I want to begin here with just a verse of scripture from Romans chapter 8 who "Then who can separate us from the love of Christ will hardship or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or the sword? As it is written for your sake we are being slain all day long, we are treated like sheep to be slaughtered, no throughout all these things we are conquerors because of Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life nor angels nor principalities, nor present things, nor things to come, nor powers nor height, nor death, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. So today I'm very happy to be with you even here as we come to be the Body of Christ to be the salt of the earth and the light to the world. So let us stand now and begin our prayers in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, grace of our Lord Jesus Christ the love of God the Father and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
