#BreakingNews Pope Francis is Hospitalized with a Pulmonary Infection

Pope Francis was taken by ambulance to the Gemelli hospital in Rome and the audiences scheduled for the next two days were cancelled . This morning, the pope held the usual Wednesday general audience in St. Peter's Square . Immediately afterwards he returned to his residence, Casa Santa Marta , but suddenly canceled the interview that he was supposed to record for the program A Sua lui Immagine with the presenter Lorena Bianchetti . Then he was taken by ambulance to the Gemelli Hospital. He has cancelled all meetings scheduled for tomorrow and the day after.

The transport of the pontiff, according to what was declared by the director of the Press Office of the Holy See Matteo Bruni , is due to "certain previously scheduled checks " . Pope Francis underwent a chest CT scan which gave a negative result. However, the Pope will spend the next few days at the Gemelli. This is the official statement from the Vatican press office: “In recent days, Pope Francis has complained of some breathing difficulties and this afternoon he went to the A. Gemelli Polyclinic to carry out some medical checks. The outcome of the same highlighted a respiratory infection (excluding the Covid 19 infection) which will require a few days of appropriate hospital medical therapy. Pope Francis is touched by the many messages received and expresses his gratitude for the closeness and prayers".
