Vatican's Archbishop Gallagher Speaks with Iran's Minister Amir-Abdollahian by Phone about the Need to Avoid a Widening of the Conflict



Vatican News reports that Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Vatican’s Secretary for Relations with States, speaks by phone with the Foreign Minister of Iran about the need to avoid escalation in the Middle East.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, had requested to speak by phone with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Vatican’s Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.
The Holy See Press Office announced on Octoer 30th that the telephone conversation took place between the two officials in the morning:
“This morning there was a telephone conversation between H.E. Msgr. Paul R. Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, and H.E. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, requested by the latter. In the conversation S.E. Msgr. Gallagher expressed the Holy See's serious concern about what is happening in Israel and Palestine, reiterating the absolute need to avoid widening the conflict and reaching a two-state solution for a stable and lasting peace in the Middle East.”
