Cardinal Parolin meets Arab ambassadors: renewing the call for a ceasefire in Gaza
Delivering humanitarian aid and activating the two-state solution

The Secretary of State of Vatican City, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, met on Saturday morning, December 16, with Ms. Enas Sayed Makkawi, Ambassador of the League of Arab States to the Holy See, accompanied by the ambassadors, Mr. Issa Qassisieh, Ambassador of Palestine, Mr. Farid Elias Al-Khazen, Ambassador of Lebanon, Mr. Rahman Farhan Al-Amiri, Ambassador of Iraq, Mr. Mahmoud Talaat, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt .
During the friendly talks with the Arab delegation, Parolin expressed the Holy See’s concern about the situation in Palestine and Israel. He also repeated the call made more than once by Pope Francis for a ceasefire, in addition to the Secretary’s emphasis on the necessity of bringing humanitarian aid into Gaza. Cardinal Parolin, on the other hand, renewed the Chair's well-known position on the urgent necessity of achieving full implementation of the two-state solution, a special internationally guaranteed status for the city of Jerusalem, and achieving lasting peace in the region.
