We gather in prayer for her, thanking her for this great gift: a life lesson that still testifies to the great capacity for love that enlivens so many of our families." The bishop then expressed "all closeness to her husband, to her parents, to her family". And he also thanks them for the «great lessons of humanity demonstrated by accompanying Azzurra towards this dramatic experience. Yes, it's really true – he concludes: there is no greater love than giving one's life."
Azzurra studied at the Brandolini Institute in Oderzo, run by the Josephine fathers. The story of the director Fr. Massimo Rocchi was moving he said, «On Sunday evening, arriving at Mass, I was informed by the parish priest of what had happened and of my mother's possible presence at Mass. I remembered her in prayer and at that moment I saw that everyone was present: mother, brothers, friends, especially her husband Francesco and her little son Antonio, there in the front row. I didn't know them personally, but at the end of the celebration I thanked them for their great testimony of faith. And in the homily I spoke precisely about testimony in the risen Jesus. I like to think of you as Azzurra, as in the photograph, winning and smiling, up there among the mountains that we love, with Mount Civetta behind us that we always admire from our campsite in Caviola. Father Rocchi concluded, we will think of you as "A mother who gives birth to a child always gives her life, even more so when this could compromise her health. And Azzurra did not hesitate to do so."
