There was a Youth Summit and Vigil held prior to the March (video below). Ottawa Archbishop Marcel Damphousse praised the National March for Life in a May 8 homily in Notre-Dame Cathedral, saying that it makes a “huge impact” in helping to reach the goal of protecting life from conception onward.
"We've been battling this issue about protecting the unborn for a long time here in Canada, and sometimes in interviews, people ask me, 'Well, Bishop, do you think that these national marches really have an impact? Do they make a difference?'"
"And I believe they do have a huge impact."
"Maybe not as quickly and as profound as we would like it to happen, but I think this is being faithful to our calling as Christians and providing a voice to those who have no voice.”
