Catholic Priest Murdered in Kogi State Roadside Ambush

A Catholic priest has been killed in a brutal roadside attack in Kogi State, central Nigeria. Father Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro was fatally assaulted with a machete on Church Road in Ajaokuta.

According to a statement issued by the Catholic Diocese of Lokoja, the incident occurred on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. He was transported to ASCL Hospital, where he was pronounced dead and transferred to the mortuary for an autopsy, before being identified as Fr. Oyetoro of St. Paul's Parish, Ayetoro Gbede.
