In the morning of June 11, 2025, in the Vatican study of the Paul VI Hall, Pope Leo XIV received in audience the Secretary General of the United Nations Organization, António Guterres, who subsequently met with the Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and with Monsignor Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations. This was reported in a statement from the Holy See Press Office.

The diplomat also met with the Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Parolin, accompanied by the Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, Archbishop Gallagher. In the talks, the Holy See's support for the United Nations' commitment to world peace
"During cordial discussions with the Secretariat of State, - the note reports - the Holy See's support for the United Nations' commitment to world peace was expressed." The discussion then focused on some ongoing processes and upcoming summits organized by the UN, as well as the difficulties the Organization encounters in addressing some crises in the world. Specific situations of conflict and instability were also addressed in the conversation.
